The I3+ blade replaced the I3. I believe the I3+ series has a 15% larger "tuning port" in the cavity vs the original I3. Can't speak to any changes in offset or size though. It comes down to personal preferences, but the PING folks I talked to say the I3+ is more forgiving than the earlier I3.

Although I replaced my much-loved i3 O-size irons this year with Ping G10's, I must say that the i3 O-size is an outstanding iron. I purchased mine new about 10 years ago and loved the custom fitting. I had the JZ Cushin shafts. Compared to the G10, the G10 is a bit more forgiving, gets the ball in the air easier, and due to the wide sole.

noslice. Shoots in the 80s. Model Reviewed: Ping i3 o-size irons. I recently picked up a set of Ping i3 O-size irons (3-sw) with True Temper stiff Tri-gold shafts. Apparently, these shafts were only available for one or two seasons back around 2000. From what I've read, they didn't get much love and were discontinued.

Posted May 31, 2015. The plastic / elastomer / whatever exactly is in the cavities of the newer models will offer a more muted feedback vs the i3's. That, along with stronger lofts will be the 2 biggest differences, IMO. I love my G25's and would also recommend those. Good luck.

Total Rating 100%. Posted February 10, 2009. While I've never owned them, I've demoed both those clubs on multiple occasions, as I almost bought some ISI-K's years ago. To me, they perform similarly, but the I3's insert gives the club a super nice, warmer, more muted sound & feel at impact. They also felt a wee bit "hotter", if that makes sense.

Description. The PING i3 irons come in two versions an oversize (OS) set and a blade set. The OS set has larger heads that make the irons more forgiving and easier to hit consistently. The OS irons also have more offset to help square the clubface at impact. The blade set has smaller club heads and less offset to allow more control for better.

Like someone else, I "upgraded" to the i5's with mixed results. The i3's were one of the most popular sets of irons in 1999-2000. For what it's worth, the MPF factor on the i3's was surprisingly low. Might I also add that the i3+ had a 15% larger custom tuning port, which I assume translates to better feel.
